1. Amber: Female Champagne. Fat, sassy and with a will to sleep on my
lap. Amber loves Bob's Chicken Gravy, bones, and the occasional piece of
Silly's neck, with whom she plays constantly.
2. Bear: Male Sable. Getting kind of old, Bear had adrenal surgery last
year and have made about as good a recovery as possible. He has put on
weight this winter and although his coat is not as good as it should be,
he is otherwise healthly and scrappy.
3. Carbone: Male Black Sable. Does "bubba" mean anything to you? Carbone,
weighing in a 3.6 lbs, is heart-stopping beautiful and one of the sweetest
little guys you will ever meet. All you have to go to get him bouncing is
scratch his hiney or pull his tail. Or stomp your feet. Or breathe.
4. Crys: Male Silver/Sable/Whatever. Like Bear, starting to show his
age. Crys started out a darkish champange, changed to a dark sable, then
a chocolate sable and is now a sort of silver with one dark patch on his
back. I wonder if he is related to Louie....
5. Daye: Female Albino. Six years old but acting 2. Daye is as smart a s
a whip, and adores me. She will follow me around until I pick her up, then
curl into a ball to sleep. She is my smallest ferret at 1 pound but has a
heart as large as, well, one in a ferret about 1 lb.
6. Fraggle: Female Albino. very old, she has started that long downhill
slide. Fraggle has started losing weight, has lost her sight, and is
getting kind of ratty in the hair, so we have put her on pred. The great
love of her life is Bob's Chicken Gravy; if she could use a straw, she
would suck it down, but she doesn't, so she just gobbles.
7. G. W.: Male Albino. Bubba number two. Does this cute little pinch
thing with his front incisors when he is playing. He and Silly are all
but inseparable, especially when they are play fighting.
8. Jezabel: Female (Currently Black) Sable. Another chameleon ferret;
started out a chocolate sable, then turned so dark last year that I
constantly confused her with Lady Noir and had to bob her tail to tell them
apart. She and Lady Noir are like twins, if one is in trouble the other is
as well and usually on my computer deiudfpo3n0983sk.
9. Lady Noir: Female Black Sable. This little lady could take 1st in any
show at any time. A face that would steal any heart. A true joy in my
life, especially when she crawls up my pants leg to nip my knee. Or that
tongue thing in my ear canal.
10. Mickey Moose: Male Silver Mitt. Mick is not a bubba. He is a super
bubba. His last weight (which he is losing now that I think he has gone
into rut. Peeeewww) was 7.7 lbs, and he is NOT fat. His head is the size
of a cat. He is a gentle giant...well, not to the girls, who he is now
trying to convince that neutering shouldn't be a reason to say "no."
11. Minnie Moose: Female Silver Mitt. Can you spell, "Prima donna?" Min
is happiest in your lap, being stroked or otherwise attended too. She is
one of those screamers who sound like they are being skinned alive, but
are kicking the crap out of their opponent.
12. Nosette: Female Chocolate Sable. Very old, but doing that Foster thing
where age doesn't seem to matter. Loves playing hide and seek, and will
instigate a game by nipping your ankle. Or any other exposed skin.
13. Sam Luc: Male Chocolate Sable. My special little boy. Broken teeth,
stumped tail, old head injuries, Sammy is a rescue from Oregon and has
stolen my heart. Because of his brain damage, he grooms with sharp teeth;
he is the only ferret allowed to bite me hard. Very quiet and retiring,
if he sees me he will lay at my feet until I pick him up.
14. Silly: Male Silver (Wanna-be DEW). Bubba no. 3. Silly is a silver
that lost all color except for a small spot on his forehead and some light
color in his tail. Smarter that he has a right to be, Silly is a play
hound par excellance and is always seen in the company of G.W.
15. Tori: Female Albino. A small handful of white fluff, Tori is a smart
little girl with one goal in life; to never stop playing. She has been
quiet lakely since Stella's passing, and more loving. Kills squeaky toys.
16. Trillian: Female DEW. A rescue from Oregon, Trillian is about 6 years
old and gave me a deep scare last week when she suddenly acted like she was
going to die. A few vet visits and lots of care, and she is now back to
her old self. It was a mystery illness.
17. Tui: Male Champagne Siamese. Tui is 1/4th polecat, 99/100th play
hound and all bubba. He hails from New Zealand. Tui will play in ice
water (a small pool filled with ice cubes and water) for hours. He would
rather dunk his foot in water and lick the water from the fur than drink
from a bottle. He is smart and strong, and absolutely loves Chicken Gravy.
Burp.
