I too would like to see the colloidal silver debate retired.
 
Yes,indeed many shelters do use colloidal silver with great results.  It
has been very effective under veterinary supervision at Ferret Wise and in
a variety of different cases ( for instance 2 cage groups who were allowed
to drink bleach water when a shelter volunteer haphazardly left it down
during cleaning day, after administration of colloidal silver - in drinking
water all stools reverted from profuse lime green fluid to normal in 8
hours.  Another instance has been documented here in a case of intestinal
upset related to gut infections, and there are more-- I can't take time to
pull the files ) .  ADDITIONALLY in several vet supervised hospice homes
under our programs ferrets who were written off as unsalvageable post
operative -- are THRIVING one 3 years later one 4 months later -- and
colloidal silver was a key factor.  We have in the past five years NEVER
had a single case of agyria, though I do confess I am intrigued by the
claims.
 
I think those who are ever so critical should consider broadening their
horizons for treatments.  Not every vet is a strict allopathic practice.
Today the vet community is blessed with a multitude of vets who do consider
healing the failing body system / organ before dissecting it out ( thus
causing more problems for the systems handing the body functions).
 
There is room to learn and understand, a little more tolerance would be a
good thing.  (now doesn't that sound like Martha Stewart!)
