I do know what Acepromazine Maleate is used for here on our farm
TRANQUILIZING HORSES!  A small amount will turn the meanest horse into a
teddy bear for about 45 minutes.  We only use it as a last measure to
keep the farrier from getting kicked.  And try not to use it at all.  I
have used pepto-bismol on my ferrets and it has worked well.  I would ask
the vet if he has another medicine that is non-narcotic.  Ace(thats what
we call it here) can be fatal if given in excess.  This medicine should
be kept under lock and key especially if you have children.
