Hello all in the list.
I am a newcomer to the list but have had one other Ferret (Rascal) who fell
prey to a mothball after being adopted from us. We had her for a year
after finding her outside in the strangling grasp of a 3 year old boy who
lived down the street.
Our new little guy is a Sable, male, fixed and descented and born
approximately 16 weeks ago and shipped here to Beaverton, Oregon from
Marshall Farms in New York. He has two black tattoo's in his ear I assume
from MF as the pet store has told us from being fixed and descented.
I'm having a heck of a time getting him to go in his litter box but does
use it occasionally. We are building a cage for him 5' tall x 3' wide x 2'
deep with plexi-glass windows on two sides. What if any stain and lacquer
can I use to protect the wood? The floor is of ceramic glazed tile and
caulked in the corners. Are wire ramps OK or should I use something else?
I would also love to hear from other Ferret owners in the Beaverton, Aloha,
Hillsboro, Oregon area who know of a knowledgeable vet that we could see.
The pet store has told us that their ferrets have their first shots.
(forgive me for not asking) What vaccinations do they require at what
times?
He is having a slight flea problem but will be getting him the "Advantage"
treatment this week. Any comments?
Thanks for all your help and all the great reading so far.
Greg, Tammy, Michael, Zechariah, Sonic (the cat), Grace Jones (the
Tarantula) and Max (the ferret)
