Did You Ever?
 
Did you ever get that feeling,
Deep in the night?
As you lay in bed reading,
By the end table light.
Why, where is that Taz?
Haven't seen him all day.
He usually comes out,
Begging someone to play.
 
Did you ever get that feeling,
That starts in your throat,
That thumps in your chest,
As you reach for your coat?
You think back on the day,
And it comes in a flash!
He must have squeezed out,
while you put out the trash!
 
You grab flashlight, and Squeaky,
And run out the door,
You yell and call out,
Till your throats pretty sore.
The bushes, the deck, the woodpile, all bare,
You're just about ready to pull out your hair.
 
Your husband wakes up,says
"What's all the clatter?"
"I can't find our Taz,that's
what's the matter!"
He lumbers outside,
and brings you your robe, says
"Get back inside, or you'll catch a cold!
You're sleepwalking again-it's all in your head!
I just checked on Taz-he's under the bed!"
 
You look under the bed, and there in the corner,
is one little ferret.....
who just "found" his owner!
Did you ever?
 
To Murphy, who was lucky, and especially to Ren, who wasn't....even though
it's been seven years, little buddy, I still hope and pray you found
another specail bed to live under.
