According to an Associated Press story out Oct. 3, a ferret named Misty
helped the U.S. defense effort at Space Command's headquarters. Faced
with the problem of fishing computer cables through 40-foot-long narrow
conduits, Lt. Col. Randy Blaisdell, who supervised the building of the
center at Peterson Field, Colorado Springs, Colo., volunteered his pet of
six years, Misty. She dashed through the conduit with a piece of yarn tied
around her middle several times. According to the article, "All it cost
was a promise of strawberry Pop Tarts, Misty's favorite treat."
