There is a shelter in Hendersonville,NC that is 1 hr away from you.

The laws is SC are very different from town to town, but the state law
don't allow you to Sell Ferrets.  You can purchase the cage and
accessories, and they will give you the Ferret.  That is there way around
that.

We are in Western NC about 2 1/2 hrs from you.
 
>#4 Does anyone know of a good ferret vet in the area?
 
There Again, the Shelter in Hendersonville has a good vet over there.  You
might want to email me as we can supply you with all the information you
may need.  And, you need to check with your local Animal control and ask
on the specific's about Ferrets.  I have heard there are some City's that
don't allow Ferrets at all.  Thanks,
