Actually, Ron, the answer would be "yes".  If you have something that's
illegal - whether that be ferrets in CA or drugs in your pocket - the
authorities can, and will, take it away.
 
That's what laws are all about.  Breaking laws doesn't change them,
regardless of why the law was broken in the first place.  The
authorities don't care if the ferrets are pets or rescues, just as they
don't care if the marijuana is for medicinal or recreational purposes.
