Susan,
I could tell how hard it was for you to write your post. To lose your
babies no matter what is so sad and I know you were devastated by what
happened. We all do what we think is best, and you made a decision you
thought was OK - otherwise you wouldn't have made it. I learned from your
loss if that helps at all - as I didn't know this could happen! I do have
a suggestion, though perhaps you have thought of it on your own. We keep
all our opened ferret food in the freezer and take out enough to last a
couple of weeks at most at a time. That way the fat doesn't have a chance
to oxidize and become rancid. We have done it mainly to keep it at the
peak of nutrition, but now I also know how dangerous it can be to leave it
exposed to air.
My heart is with you,
Karla
