I've made some phone calls to vets out here in the West who have experience
doing right adrenalectomies, and I have a choice between two different
approaches. One is the traditional approach of debulking the right adrenal
gland (while also checking the other organs for insulinoma, ovarian tissue,
etc.) and then giving Lucky Charm Prednisone for the rest of her life. The
other is to ligate her vena cava if the right adrenal gland has grown into
it, a surgery in which roughly one out of four (22 percent) don't make it.

I'm afraid of surgery in general and because I just lost Esperanza, I'm
probably not thinking real clearly. Would those of you who are familiar
with these procedures please let me know if one approach is preferable and
why? Thanks.

Linda
