Here, no vet would consider neutering a ferret younger than six months
(preferably more); In spite of this we have no population explosion. Most
pet ferrets get neutered anyway, when they get older (but never dogs, and
there aren't too many of those either). Are American attitudes such that
legislation is the only solution, and would it work? Do the "surplus"
ferrets come from people who bought them to have as pets or people who
planned on breeding?
