Pawing at a BOWL of water

Hi everyone,

I wanted to comment on ferrets pawing at their water bottles. I have never
used a water bottle for any of my ferrets, seven but now five of them.

I have never liked them, water bottles that is! My ferrets have a large
heavy bowl full of fresh water everyday. I also clean the bowl daily. I
feel that the ferrets can easily get the amount of water they want through
the use of a bowl. Its easier for them to drink out of. If anyone out
there knows perhaps why I should not use a bowl, please let me know. I
find it, I guess more humane. Please don't think I'm criticizing anyone
for the use of a water bottle. I'm not:)

Anyway, all that said...my fuzzies paw at the bowl of water! The two older
one don't do that but the young ones always do it! They splash water all
over the place! Then they drink some more and more "digging" in the water.

Also, if I put a bowl out, such as a large glass mixing bowl or pot for
them to play with...they submerge their heads entirely under water with
their eyes open and look around! I put their toys in the water sometimes
so they can bob for them.

Weirdoes! I love them though!

Catherine
