Dear people,
Thank you for yor responses to my letter about cardiomyopathy one of my
ferrets is suffering from.
It seems I'm doing most things right. I still have some questions though
so maybe you could help me out again.
These are the questions:
1. How much brewers yeast can I give per Kg.
2. How much aspirine can I give per Kg, and under what conditions.
3. How much lanoxin should I be able to give my ferret (his name is Count
Fronsky by the way, and he is a full male) At the moment I give him
.18 mg three times daily, and his weight is 1.8 kg. My vet wants me
to go up to .2 mg, but he then becomes lethargic and seems to have
intestinal trouble when I do.
4. I also give him a furosemide solution of which I am alowed to give
him up to 5 mg per kg daily
5. At the moment I give him an electrolyte solution from Waltham, but it
contains quit a large amount of maltrose so is there maybe a better
choice available. Take into account that I live in Amsterdam ( the
Netherlands) so it would have to be available in Europe.
6. Last but not least he seems to have a problem keeping his body temp.
up. He trembles a lot and this only stops when he's asleep and
covered warmly, or lying in my arms with something warm to cover him.
He also is quit weak in the hind legs. ( I thought of dehydration
and since he also drank his own urine I started to give him this
electrolyte solution.)
I already had some very enlightning responses to my previous letter, and
would welcome any additional information that could help me some more.
The good news about all this that thanks to a lot of help from a very
knowlegable vet and finding a lot of info on the Net I've already managed
to add nine months to Fronskys live, even though the vet I originaly went
to told me to end it right there and than. He's had nine months of
females, walks in the grass, and cudling up to his son and daughter, so
I'm not complaining. All I want is for the stinkum is to live the
remainder of his life in confort, and without pain.
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Evelien who loves her stinky al lot
