I asked this question a few weeks back but no one responded; or if they
did I missed it.  I've missed a few issues since then.
 
This was a question about my daughter's ferret Albert.  We've noticed
for quite some time that his eyes are watery; not excessively so, but
more than I would expect for normal tearing.  There doesn't seem to be
any mucus or swelling, just excess dampness around the eyes.  He does
spend a lot of time on our back yard lawn.  Is it common for ferrets to
have grass allergies?  We changed the bedding in his cage but that didn't
seem to make any difference.  How about newspaper?  That's used on the
false bottom of the cage.  Or perhaps the litter used in his box?
 
To Discouraged in issue 893:
 
The kind of aggressive behavior you described is completely out of
character for Al.  I've never seen him act aggressively towards anyone.
In fact he's instant friends with any person or animal that pays him the
least attention, including our dog and rabbit.
 
As for biting, he will grab a finger when excited during play but never
beyond a gentle nibble.
 
My daughter bought Al at a pet store when he was only a few weeks old so
maybe the age at which ferrets get used to being handled by people is a
factor.  I have no other ferrets to compare him to so maybe Al is the
aberration.
