Tony, I had to go look up the reference myself, but Hillyer and Quesenberry
in "Ferrets, Rabbits and Rodents; Clinical Medicine and Surgery, W. B
Saunders Company; 1997 says concerning ringworm:
"Disinfect the entire environment to which the ferret was exposed to
eliminate the infectious spores, which remain contagious for up to 2
years."
I'd be interested in the information on the new treatment that you
mentioned. Do you happen to know the name of the medication?
