Hi

I wrote a few days ago about my ferret Jilly who's been diagnosed with
Insulinoma a month ago, has been on prednisolone for a month and has been
diagnosed with Lymphoma last Monday. The lymph nodes on the neck are
pretty much enlarged and the vet could also feel the ones in the groin
area and said they were enlarged.

Now, my friend Karen's ferret Ben has been diagnosed with Insulinoma
slightly longer than Jilly, maybe 4 weeks longer. And his lymph nodes on
the neck came up a day or two after Jilly's became enlarged. He's been to
see the vet today, the ones on the neck are not quite as big as Jilly's but
the ones in the groin are also enlarged. The vet we saw this evening said
that yes, Jilly and Ben do have Lymphoma... She's felt Jilly's glands when
I took her to the vets in the afternoon and in the evening she saw Ben.

I was just wondering whether that often happens, that insulinomic ferrets
come down with Lymphoma so quickly. It's just strange that it has happened
to both Jilly and Ben at almost the same time, I'm staying at my Karen's at
the moment by the way.

I was also wondering what a pred belly is? Is it fluid in the abdomen?
Because Ben's belly is very hard and full of fluid and the vet today said
he had to be put on diuretics to make him feel more comfortable. Do many
ferrets get fluid build-up when they are on pred? Jilly is okay, she only
put on weight since she's been on pred.

I will also post this message to the FAIML. Hope somebody can shed some
light on this sudden occurrence of Lymphoma. I mean it can't just be a
coincidence...

Take care everybody.
