Hi All - another "switched" ferret story....

Two years ago I brought my jill EB to the zoo to breed with the resident
male. The section-head was on a 10 days vacation. It was shed season.
Get the picture? When she returned to work, she went hysterical and told
everyone I mixed up the two females and that I had taken her jill home.
Well, to make a long story short (and thank the Lady for microchips!) I
proved to her that the ferret I had was mine and hers was hers.... Then
we had a long friendly talk about shed season and summer/winter weight
gain/loss. When it was all over she apologized and now it's a great joke
about Bev the ferret thief! Positive ID, folks. Microchips are the only
way. They don't cost much and can save a ferrets life in a bite/escape
situation. All mine are chipped and anything I sell is also chipped. I
would rather cause a few minutes distress when the chip is implanted than
lose them or have them be put down later due to lack of positive ID!

Take care all and happy holidays to everyone!
