This name thing is a kick. Being a cat lover of near 60 years duration,
now the "grandfather" of two not particularly sane ferrets, let me throw in
a little further info -- or obscurity. In the musical "Cats," there is a
song about cats' names. See if you see any similarities. A cat has a
regular name that everyone knows -- Ebisneezer (I just liked that one). A
cat also has the name that is often used in personal contact -- Geddown,
Gray Horror (my personal old mighty hunter). A cat also has a personal
name that is never revealed to anyone under any circumstances.

I notice the pattern fits ferrets as well. Baxter J. Stubbins III. Also
known as *&%^$&!! leggo my *&&^*&^%$%$ finger or I'll destroy your Ferret
Liberation Organization code book. Although I'll admit the um, shall we
say, nickname is maybe a trifle long for every day use it has considerable
application when the little monster is dangling from one of my fingers.
