The ferret, Cadbury, seized along with dozens of dogs, cats and other
animals from a Sullivan Ohio couple in October, has been officially turned
over the our shelter. As part of a plea bargain, the couple was given two
years probation for 2 counts of animal abuse. They were allowed to keep 6
of their dogs and are subject to random inspections during the probabion
period. The rest of the animals now become property of the local humane
society, who has officially given the ferret over to me.
Cadbury has grown in a new soft winter coat. He has not gained strength as
quickly as I hoped, I fear his tumor is growing and causing neurological
problems. But he absolutely loves to cuddle and is about the sweetest
ferret I've ever seen. See

for earlier posts about him.
By the way, several people have asked how they can thank the Humane Care
Center for their hard work on protecting these animals. They can be
reached at

They now face the daunting task of rehabilitating and finding homes for all
the dogs and cats.
