I called my insurance company, USAA, today for a quote on renter's
insurance. After answering a long list of questions concerning
fire-hydrant, firestations, etc, she also inquired about any pets. I
told her I had a 2lb ferret that stayed in a cage while I'm not at home
and she told me they will not insure me because I own a non-domesticated
pet! Something about the liability, but if you ask me, owning any kind of
dog is more of a liability than my mild-mannered fuzzy.

Has anyone else experienced this anti-ferret bias and if so, were you able
to find an insurance carrier who accepts ferrets under the liability
portion of their renter's insurance?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated; thanks!!
