Hello fuzzies' slaves,
 
I got a couple e-mails asking me about one of my fuzzies bleeding episode
that I posted a couple days ago.  I realized that from what it sounded,
it might have suggested that the Bob C's chicken gravy was dangerous.
 
That is NOT the impression that I meant to give!  As with eating any food,
there is an amount of risk of food getting stuck in the teeth, going down
the "wrong pipe", choking, etc.  Unless there are more reports of incidents
related to the chicken gravy, I would say that this food is still very
safe, and in my opinion, a much better diet.
 
It was just a fatty piece that he was chewing on and it was stuck at the
back, being fatty, it didn't break apart but wrapped around one of the
tooth.  If he had given it time, he would probably have gotten it loose and
swallowed, but I think one of other fuzzy found the piece sticking out and
grabbed for it, either that or he bit himself trying to get that chicken
loose or pawed himself.
 
It was not because chicken was dangerous to him, it was just an incident
and I would not start suggesting that people avoid feeding their fuzzy this
just because of this one incident that wasn't that serious and of all the
other time and other fuzzies eating this without problems.  If you are
feeding your fuzzies the chicken gravy, don't worry too much about this
same incident to happen, but it's a good idea to be there during feeding
times just to moniter to see if everyone is eating and no one is off their
eating, that can give you an early indicate that there is an illness but
most of the time, it goes through just fine without problems except
Cheswick tend to hord the whole dish to himself.
 
Food Stamp was never in pain and even continued to eat while bleeding.  It
wasn't pretty, he looked like he just made a kill :-) but right after we
got the fatty chicken piece out, he was just fine and stopped bleeding
because he stopped bothering trying to get it out.  Then brought him home
and he finished his meal.  Nothing changed his behavior at all.
 
The antibotics is just in case which is always a good idea. :-)  I do
believe that if you can, take any bleeding ferrets to the vet, even if it
turns out to be minor, at least the antibotics given will protect him from
infection.
