Sukie, FYI, all inks used in US newsprint are now vegetable based.  In
fact, it is a Federal law that bans the use of the old heavy metal and
carbon based inks in printing processes.
 
So, it is perfectly safe to use shredded newprint, color or black and
white, as bedding material for our fuzzies.  I actually prefer the color
comics as the color doesn't 'bleed' as much as the black inks.
