Thanks, Leslie. The shelves are made of hardwood, covered with some
heavy-duty, Scotch-garded indoor/outdoor carpeting. They are attached to
the cage by some little "L" shaped hardware. I don't know what it's
called. I paid a fellow-ferret enthusiast about $65 to make the shelves
and the ramps for me, and he did an outstanding job. I was asked not to
divulge his name, although he is active in the Georgia Ferret Association,
and apparently they are planning to do something with his design. Mugsy
has a link to the GFA on her homepage
(http://members.aol.com/dvitro/mugsy2.htm).

With this design, the shelves are staggered allowing plenty of headroom.
Levels 2 and 5 are about the size of the 2 original plastic shelves that
came with the cage. Levels 3 and 4 are about 3 times wider than the
original shelves. The ramps are made of the same materials as the shelves
and attach to the levels above with some "hook and eye" hardware. Level 4
has 4 small "o-ring" hardware thingies attached to the bottom, so that a
hammock can be suspended below it. The shelves are all removeable, so that
the cage can be collapsed, if needed.

Mugsy, Tuggle, Moby and Dole appreciate your appreciation of their
pictures. Mugsy wants to know if you have any raisins.
