A friend who is a llama breeder sent me this story; it's true and happened
to a friend of hers. I thought it was HILARIOUS! (And sad, too.) Reposted
with permission of both friend and friend's friend. :-)

One time, though, a friend who did 4-H with us brought her ferret along, I
don't really know why, but she had this ferret tied by its leash at the
side of my llama pen and the ferret would go in and out, visiting with my
llamas. They would just poke it with their noses, trying to figure out
what it was. (we were right there, so we could see there wasn't a stomping
problem). Anyway, a couple of shoppers came by - a mom with her daughter.
They were oohing and aahing over the llamas, and then the mom (get this,
the MOM), said, "Ooh, look at the little baby one down there!" referring
to the gosh-danged FERRET! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry... THIS
is what is raising our next generation of leaders of the free world???
