Hello all

I stopped by a pet store in Roy, Utah to pick up some supplies, the
saleslady recognized me because I had purchased Mocha from her last summer
(that was before I realized that there are shelters) and told me she has a
sick deaf ferret in the back.

We went to the back and I saw this wee thing couldn't be more than 6-7
weeks old. I could tell that he was eating from the mush and the saleslady
said that he is drinking fine. I can see that the poopies were in a corner
of a litterbox. This looks like that this ferret can take care of itself.
But she said that he had a prolapse rectum problem and I can see the the
fur is a little...ragged or oily in patchs.

But the thing is that he seems to have a muscle control problem, he is
always rolling his head. I couldn't place the problem and what is not
normal. HOwever he wanted to play and loved to play in my hands, even
reaching for the buttons on my coat.

The saleslady said that she called the supplier but they haven't called
her back. I told her that if she can't find a home for him, I will take
him (I didn't tell her that I would buy him and I intend not to).

She went on to say that he might be deaf because he couldnt keep his head
balanced. I replied that at that age it is difficult to see if a ferret
is deaf and I should know, my Mocha is deaf. She thought maybe an
ear-infection. I told her that I really don't know about that.

So, I might get a call from her soon telling me to pick him up. I would
appreciate any one of you experts who knows what I'm talking about and tell
me more information on him. And there is one thing, I can't seem for the
life of me remember what a prolapsed rectum is caused by and how to care
for this problem. (I saw at the time that the anus look almost normal,
I'm assuming that he was getting better before I saw him, could be wrong
though)

This lady was worried for the little guy and seemed to be happy that
someone can pay more attention to him, however she is not the owner of the
store and couldn't just give me him unless the owner says thats okay.

On a side note, I got my first interaction with a wallaby Joey, cutest
little thing. (It was not for sale, wallabies are hard to acquire in
Utah)

John,
Soda-Pop (treat please? *rolls* *beg* *rolls*)
Mocha (oh alright, I'll roll for a treat, but this just isn't ladylike)
