In reference to Mike Janke's response to tim Watson/Max's surgery:
My ferret also had adrenal surgery, by the same vet as Mike's, and the left
adrenal looked "normal" and the right had a minute cyst on it.  He took the
left and removed the cyst from the right.  Upon dissection of the left,
he found on gross exam, not much.  Her surgery was on Jan. 13 and at six
weeks had her body completely covered in hair and NOW, has a full coat of
hair and it's getting longer and silkier every day.
 
Had it been a less knowledgeable vet he could have come out empty handed.
