I used to live in Aiken (across the border from Augusta, GA.  We had a
wonderful vet with ferret experience.

I left Aiken 3 years ago, but there was a young lady in or near Columbia
that was trying to lobby the state legislators to allow the sale of ferrets
in SC.  The law at the time was that it was legal to own them, but not to
sell them in the state.  I believe that she had taken in some unwanted
ferrets, but I don't know of anofficial shelter there.
