Greetings to all in Ferretdom,
I am finally getting to the bottom of the FMLs that I haven't had time to
read so thought I would add my thoughts to some of the topics.
Nose flicking and/or thumping: Since I wouldn't like it if someone were to
flick or thump my nose, I haven't used that method. I find that gently but
firmly holding the ferts mouth shut and telling it "no no, no bite" while
gently shaking its head and them time out for about 3 minutes works quite
well. I also pick the baby up every chance I get, pet it, tell it that it
is a "good baby" and put it down helps a lot. I have had some bite to the
bone ferts here in the shelter and always use that method. It works.
Cageing: All ours and the shelters are free roam except at night. Anywhere
from 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM they are put to bed with a love and a treat. If
I don't get to them in time they will put themselves to bed and wait for
their treat. I clean all the cages morning, when they get up and night
before I put them to bed. More ferts more cages.
Of course our ferts are fire lizards in disguise. Their wings are
invisialbe (an FLO tatic) thats how they get to the door before you do.
That is also how they are able to jump so far when you move things out of
the way (G) so that they can't get into them or hurt themselves. Sprite
took a wild leap at a baloon the other day and darned near knocked herself
out when she landed. She is our deaf shelter kid along with her bitie cage
mate Gina. (who doesn't bite anymore)
Our prayers are with all who have lost a love or have one that is ill.
Gay & Charlie: "I gotta run and slide down the tube thing"
(bounce,bounce,bounce)
Prissy: "Wait for me Charlie"
Chester: "Yawn, stretch, rolling over waiting for a tummy scratch"
Felix: "Hey Mom.....do I smell craisins???????"
Daisy Mae: " Wait for me....I want to play too"
Shelter babys Sprite & Gina Bouncing all over Moms feet waiting for their
morning raisins.
