Just a quick note: we almost lost Fritter to a sponge when she was a kit.
She ate some of it and then tried to vomit but instead partly aspirated the
sponge.  I was just lucky to be there when she collapsed and had to use
gentle cheek-puff AR after she stopped breathing.  Fortunately, it worked.
For obvious reasons we don't consider sponges safe for ferrets.
