I don't post often but have to put in my 2 cents worth.  My hat goes off
to the anon poster who said ferrets are not for everyone and are high
maint. pets.
 
Sometimes reading this list I do get the impression that everyone should
have a ferret and it just isn't true.
 
When I talk to someone who is thinking of getting a "cute" little guy I
invite them to my house.  Chicken wire on the bottom of the furniture,
hooks on the cabinets (with bricks underneath) litter boxes around, doing
more ferret laundry than my own ... well you know the story.  I can not
imagine living without my six crazy critters but will be the first to say
they are not for everyone.  Vet bills alone can be staggering.
 
Please we owe it to the ferrets (and people thinking of getting one) to
let them know the WHOLE story before they jump in.  If you and ferrets
are a match it is one of the best things in the world but if not beware.
