What a wonderful New Years in Oregon!
The weather is absolutely glorious, hubby had a 3 day gig at the beach
and my daughter decided to stay over another few days so we packed up the
ferrets and headed for the coast for the weekend.
We started singing in the car.."Ferrets at the beach" to "Riders on the
Storm"
ok..ferret people can be strange <g>
My babies usually get very close supervision outside as I have no enclosed
areas. Angel isn't a fan of nature anyhow so she heads directly for the
door, demanding to be let in, but Bismarck is nature boy personified and
wants to be the free ferret.
They had a ball at the beach, digging under logs, investigating the
overhang when the high tides of last week had washed out tunnels of sand,
looking at the shiny stones and sneezing at sea foam. Then we went to the
water!
What the heck is this stuff? Sneeze, snort cough.
They ran along the little incoming waves, did the ferret dance with seaweed
and generally attracted lots of attention.
I hope the pictures turn out..Angel decided to get brave and ended up
getting tossed ass end over teakettle in a tiny wash of a wave..she then
ran and stood on my son in laws foot and shivered, so we bundled her up
in a flannel shirt and she was happy.
Bismarck loved the whole experience and got so excited running and war
dancing and being free..challenging the waves and digging to China in the
sand..exploring logs and clawing at stones.
The day was warm and absolutely beautiful.
The only negative was the number of people who said "I used to have a
ferret but he died".
My daughter is really good about telling people that ferrets have a short
but active life span, that if you loved your ferret there can be another
one at a shelter for you to love.
Fuzzies are going to the beach with us from now on!
