Disclaimer right up front...the following was under constant supervision,
and no animals were harmed............we just had such fun with this "toy"
that I wanted to share:

You know those clear plastic balls that allow a hamster to safely roll
around the house? Well, I found a much bigger one at the pet store
recently and it seemed the perfect size for our pet rat. I thought it
could allow her more exercise....little did I know it would also become
entertainment for the ferrets AND provide the rat an opportunity for
revenge!

Cheesecake (the rat) lives in a very sturdy cage on my teenage sons' desk.
Two of our ferrets also live in David's room, and being typical ferrets
spend a fair amount of time trying to get onto that desk. In true ferrety
way they have managed to get up there onto the rat cage a few times and
Cheesecake lets them know how she feels about trespassers by nipping their
noses and toes -- she seems more annoyed than afraid of them.

Now just try to imagine this scenario......Cheesecake is in her new ball,
cruising around the room. Rascal and Toes, the ferrets, spot this new
rolling toy and start nudging it along with their noses. All of a sudden
the ball stops, reverses, and comes rolling straight at them! The ferrets
don't seem to know what to make of this turn of events, especially when
the ball keeps coming. They dook, they dance, they run away, they come
back...nudge, nudge, repeat. Meanwhile the human "audience" is rolling on
the floor laughing, watching two full grown ferrets being chased around the
room by a determined little rat.

Never a dull moment at this house!
