Ed's post on 25 June caught my interest. I immediately called my vet who
was aware of such a parasite, but unaware of any infestations in Texas.
He is also a wildlife rehabber and loves raccoons, and is completely up
to date on all Zoonosis of that species. E-mailed my contacts in Texas
Department of Health and this is my letter, Rick White, Dir., SAFE

Dr. Mahlow, et al. I received a post (from out of state) that this
disease exists here in Texas, especially in East Texas. I would
appreciate any information that either confirms or denies this as fact.
If this disease does exist and although there is no cure; what clinical
signs and/or symptoms would be expected in either animal or human species?
Thank you for any information you are able to provide,
Rick White, Dir., SAFE
