Okay, I did it..I hope it is not a terrible no no...I bought a HUGE plastic
bin..and I mean huge..you could fit a 9 year old child in it..ohhh..come
to think of it I have one of those too...anyway, and 100lbs of play sand,
cleaned and screened. I added two gallons of water and I have myself a
portable beach. I thought of using dirt, but sand is MUCH easier to clean
up. Well it was a HUGE HIT with Chandler and Socks. when they got in, I
NEVER NEVER saw them get so excited as they did then, wardancing, twisting
flipping and jumping around, they were truly ecstatic. For over a 1/2 an
hour they played in it, him on one side, her on the other, digging like
there was no tomorrow, the whole thing looked like one of those ant
colonies you can buy..little tunnels and holes everwhere...the funny thing
was socks is digging her hole, chandler his, she drags the sand back to get
it out of the way and he does likewise, needless to say they kept filling
up each others tunnels. At one point chandler had QUITE the tunnel going,
very impressive, almost could not see him, then he had a little cave in and
he had to start all over..though I doubt he was dissapointed. I NEED to
know what are the hazards to a SAND box, I am going to keep it wet so there
will be no dust, I will HAVE to keep the lid on it because the cats would
be in litter box heaven..I probably should have consulted the list first
before doing this..So what are the drawbacks to sand boxes..It will only be
an occasional plaything..(it is still messy to cleanup)
Thank you for any advice.
