I'd like to add to the folklore list.  In Euro-pagan mythology the weasel
is associated with and, in some circles (no pun intended), considered the
pet of Eris, the goddess of playful mischief.
 
Also, as a side note, when referring to christian mythology, you should use
"jesus" instead of "christ" or "the christ" which is aramaic(sp) for
messiah and is less accurate and can be offensive to some jews.
