* The camera must be suitable for photographing such small
animals. With some, you can't get close enough to fill the
frame and still focus. I prefer 90-105 mm lenses, that way
you don't have to come very close to them.
* Ferrets are fast, so:
- You need to be fast, practice with the camera a lot
- The camera must be quick acting too. If it starts to
focus after you've pressed the button you'll have a
hard time catching the moment. I use manual focus and
press the button when they will be in the right place.
* Expect lots of wasted film in the beginning.
Take notes so you know what you did right when the photos
comes out well and what you did wrong when they don't.
* Try to get level with them.
