I got home last night to find my wife crying. She told me that she had some
bad news. My "baby boy" Marcus had made that trip over Rainbow Bridge.
Marcus was a 6 year old Silver Foot ferret that we got from Wal-Mart (of
all places). Marcus had a rough time of it. He had 4 or 5 times that he
nearly died due to sicknesses. I have spent probably near $1000.00 in vet
bills and emergency room bills to ensure that he would be OK.

Recently, Marcus' hair started to fall out all over his body. We thought
it was adrenal gland disease. I took him and my female sable (Penelope) to
a vet and had them both checked. It was not adrenal glad disease. It was
something else. I found that the house that we live in had skin mites BAD!
Previous tennant was a slob and never cleaned. I got him treated and he
started to get his hair back. He also started gaining weight like he
should have and was back up to around 3 lbs.

Last night, January 20, Marcus tried to get into a closet. This closet had
a door that was wedged tightly in the frame. He pushed and pushed until
the door fell back. From what we could tell, he tried to jump over the
crack between the doorframe and door. He only made it halfway. His chest
was pinched at the bottom of his rib cage and he was stuck there. He
didn't feel a thing. The reason that I say that is there were no claw
marks on the door, the doorframe, and the carpet was not dug up. This was
an instant end to a hard, sickly life.

The fact that he went quick does not make it any easier. I found a piece
of USArmy property that they haven't been to in YEARS and buried him there.
He has a beautiful view of the Colorado Rockies and Colorado Springs. I
just hope that my "baby boy" knows how much his mom and I will miss him.

Goodbye, Son.
