Re: Jack Hanna's appearance on Larry King.

Hanna is a known ferret hater. He lobbied hard to try to keep ferrets
illegal in Columbus (fortunately he failed and last year ferrets were
legalized in Columbus and most of the surrounding Franklin County). He
often says bad things about them and reportedly once kicked a ferret on
national TV.

I never heard of a ferret "destroying" a baby in Columbus 3 years ago.
Perhaps he is confused with the case in Cleveland early this year, when the
ferret who became known as Phoenix reportedly bit a baby repeatedly. The
parents were not out shopping, they were in a drunken stupor. (By the way,
even if they WERE shopping, leaving an infant home alone constitutes child
neglect!)

(Also by the way, the parents in this case were just released a few days
ago from jail after serving only 6 months of their 2 year sentences for
child endangering. As part of their probation, they must attend parenting
classes and refrain from drinking alcohol. In Feb, they plan to go to
court to try to regain custody of the now 1 year old girl and her siblings,
who are in foster care.)

Every time I see Hanna on TV, I cringe, fearful of what he will say about
ferrets. I believe he does more to damage the reputation of ferrets in
this country than any other single person.
