Hi, everyone,

I just returned from Petland on my way back from a job interview. They
have called Marshall's, who just referred them back to the distributor.
They are not willing to do anything more. If the kit (who someone called
"Sneezy") isn't sold by 9 PM tonight, he will be shipped back. In all
likelihood, everyone, including the folks in the pet store, agree that he
will either be resold for scientific experimentation or euthanized. The
little guy has a 9 PM death sentence hanging over him.

A woman in Iowa has offered to pay for him, but can't take him. I am going
to e-mail her privately, but if the store will accept her payment, we are
now talking about a free ferret kit in need of a home. If my landlord
would let me have another, he'd have a home, but that is not an option,
at least not long term.

I called the vet who looked at him. The diagnosis: post nasal drip.
That's it. If it gets worse as he gets older, he'll have to take Benadryl.
If it doesn't, then he's just fine. In other words, this ferret will die
for a sniffle. I am going to find a way not to let that happen.

Oh, and the store insists he's 8 weeks old, but he still doesn't have his
canine teeth. Translation: this is one young kit.

Could the store do more? I'm certain they could, but like so many, they
are in this for the money, and are perfectly willing to let him die. Most
of us know how ferrets bond with their owners. I'd like him to go to his
permanent home straight away. Can't anyone help?

The phone number for Petland is (919) 481-6614. If you are going to get
involved, talk to Holly, Tamarind, or Michelle. (Diana is not in tonight.)

A little frustrated, but hopeful,
Caity Martin
