I have been forwarding this list to my office because I haven't had time
to keep up with the FML. Regarding Prilosec, Prilosec is not a drug to
control or get rid of Hylicobacter Pylori, it is a drug to only control the
acid in your stomach. If you have been diagnosed with H-Pylori, you must
take a course of very heavy antitiobiotics for 14 days. I was diagnosed
with this a couple of months ago and had to take 8 antibiotics a day (which
wasn't fun I might add). At that you may not get rid of it either.
Prilosec is a wonder-drug though. If you have gastric reflux as I do, you
will quickly see how effective it is at controlling this. Since it is such
a wonder drug for adults, I'm sure our ferret community can benefit as
well. I just didn't want anyone to get confused about the treatment for
H-Pylori. Lisa, If your physician has not prescribed antibiotics then you
are not getting the recommended treatment. There is also a web site for
H-Pylori if you need to read up on it. I was diagnosed with it with a
Nuclear Medicine Breath test (I can see them doing a breath test on a
ferret!!) The downside to Prilosec is the expense of the drug. My
insurance will only pay for three prescriptions.
