FOR IMAGINOUS
By Stephanie Sheme 1999
I loved you since the day I found you.
I cleaned you up and held you tight.
Told you would always have a home
gave you clean water, food and Ferretone.
I hear memories are golden
and I know it is true
but I do not want your memories
I only want you.
In life I loved dearly
In death I love you still
But there's a hole in my heart
that only you can fill.
If tears could lead the way to you
I would follow them right now
and find that place where you are and bring you home somehow.
I know if love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.
But instead I held your sweet body close and closed my eyes and cried.
