I am a little concerned by the calculations that are given for the amount
of food fed, per ferret, per day. From my understanding and practices,
on average of a 3 lb. ferret, the ferret should 2.5 ozs. of food, per day
(24 hrs.). Based on that figure and having 20 ferrets (of various
weights), I would feed them 50 ozs. per day, 350 ozs. per week. Turning
ozs. into lbs. would be 21.88 lbs. TF per week (7 days). I order TF at a
price of $69.97, say $70., ok 30 lbs. TF divided into $70. is $2.33 per
lb. If I need 21.88 lbs of TF per wk., to feed 20 ferrets, that comes to
$50.98 per wk. Now mind you, all ferrets are in great condition, 1 eating
more than he should, but those eyes are just to compelling to say no. What
I'd like to know is, am I wrong in feeding 2.5 ozs. for the average size
of a 3 lb ferret or, are the ferrets mentioned being starved ? You feed a
sick ferret 90 ozs. to 120 ozs. ducksoup or goo, in dry weight I believe
that should be around 2.81 ozs. to 3.75 ozs. If these figures are way out
there, would someone jump in and make some sense of this matter.
