Aspertame kills!

In the thread of "Pedialyte kills" somebody mentioned about Aspartame that
it will "kill anything".  Has anybody every heard of this (other than
lab mice in tests), or is this just a paranoid person.  If there is any
foundation to this claim, why do they put it in things for infants and
adult humans?
