While I am in favor of ferret social activities -- there are NEVER enough
in my opinion, I do not condone the recent Petco - Concord, NH ferret
day -- BECAUSE this is just one more way to bring young ferrets into the
spotlight -- and encourage more to be impulsively sold to folks who do not
have a clue as to the required care and maintenece of the animal.
Think about it-- when has Petco last donated to a shelter near you?
I would like to urge everyone INSTEAD to support those wonderful ferret
events put on by ferret clubs and shelters as an alternative to the
marketing srategies of retail pet trades. The clubs and shelters use the
funds gained at these events to care for the discarded pets-- I have yet
to see this done by any retail establishment.
Just my personal thoughts -- thanks.
Alicia
