ARGGGHHHHH!!!! Non-digestible things (Laxastat, Petromalt, petroleum
jelly) speed stuff through the body. Cooking oils are digestible, not only
that but in studies on humans oils (fats in general) SLOW digestion which
is exactly the opposite of what is needed. Also, polyunsaturated oils
(unlike monosaturated or saturated) are linked to some nutrient deficiency
disorders appearing in ferrets in a study (which if memory serves) was done
in New Zealand about 10 or so years ago.

Don't forget that UTIs (urinary tract infections) can be helped by giving
dried cranberries or blueberries in addition to the antibiotics. Just
recently the chemical compound in these two fruits which prevents bacteria
from sticking to walls of the urinary tract was foundand reported in
Science News or NY Times (Not sure which of the two I read it in...). It's
a varient of the tannins. IN Scandinavia there is another berry called the
bilberry. I do NOT know if this berry has this compound, but it's known
for sharing some other compounds in common with blueberry, and for having
higher level of one antioxidant than blueberries have. The reason I
mention it is that I've seen Swedish preserves with bluberry and ones with
bilberry marked "blabarssylt" but if it's bilberries it might not have the
tannin type needed.
