Many vets would say that 70s is definitely low and should be treated either
surgically or medically. Dr. Charlie Weiss recently published a paper
(more about that in another post) in which he says that surgery should be
done sooner rather than later.
No treatments short of surgery have been shown to reduce the tumors, which
will continue to grow slowly. Pred only reduces symptoms.
To help regulate the blood glucose levels, cut out the Nutrical from the
diet. It contains lots of sugars, which have the effect of briefly raising
the blood sugar, followed by a crash. Add chromium to the diet, it helps
regulate blood glucose. Chromium is naturally present in brewer's yeast,
or you can buy dietary supplements to add to the duck soup.
