Hey there fellow FMLer's

Two things to add to the stew that is our daily FML.

I have to add my two pennies in on the 'hitting'animals issue.

I have read that some owners use the 'flicking' approach for discipline.
I just have never understood how violence and pain can be used to solve
animal problems. I share a home with a dog trainer who is one of the
northwest's best and SHE doesn't understand how physically abusing an
animal can accomplish anything.

If you hit an animal for biting and the animal is already afraid and is
lashing out by biting, how is causing more pain and fear going to help?
Most dogs won't actually won't bite the hand that hits it-suprisingly!-but
have been known to strike out at other humans, besides the owners, that
they encounter.

This is entirely my opinion, but I just feel that there are other methods
besides striking an animal for discipline.

A reminder to all Northwest fert owners, shelters and breeders that a new
Washington organization is in the process of forming and the first meeting
is scheduled for the next Sunday, at 5 pm in Issaquah.
