Hi all: I am very worried. I have 2 ferrets. My extremely energetic
white, who gets into everything, is sick. 3 days ago,, I noticed that
Angel had thrown up two times. It wasn't a lot and it was watery. She
also did this 2 times the next day but she was her usual self, very
energetic and playful. She was also eating good. Then the day before
yesterday, (Sunday) she threw up real dry food, alot like a cat that ate
too fast or has hair balls, it looks like a long fat worm of packed food.
I didn't worry too much because she was fine otherwise. I started to
encourage her to drink ferrettone as much as she would drink. Yesterday,
by early evening I realized that she was sleeping all day. She hadn't
eaten and I havn't seen her go the the potty. When I held her she just
sleeps in my arms, not even fighting to get down. She never does this.
She wouldn't take water from my cupped hand, which she always loves to do,
and she just wanted to sleep, not play or any of her usual behaviors. I
think she may possibly have hair balls, or a intestine blockage. Now, I am
very worried. Please, if anyone thinks they knnow whats wrong, EMail me
because Ii can'at wait till tomorrow to get the answer.

Thankyou, Sharon <[log in to unmask]>

Moderator's note: Sharon and I have been in touch a couple of times since
I, too, was concerned about a possible blockage. She has been to a vet who
didn't think there was enough evidence to warrant surgery (he did see
something on x-ray which might indicate blockage but wasn't sure. The vet
also expressed concern that seems to indicate that he believes ferrets are
poor candidates for surgery).

In any case, I've made my suggestions to her, but I'm sure any additional
info will be appreciated. BIGŁ
