I don't know if anybody has posted about this problem but I haven't seen
any e-mails regarding the Netherlands so I thought I write a quick e-mail.
There was an article in the W.F.U. newsletter regarding that there's a
threat that ferrets are going to be made illegal in the Netherlands!  The
government is going to do a new animal act in which animals are listed that
may be lawfully kept in the Netherlands.  One of the biggest organisations
that will be giving advice is the Dutch department for animal protection
and welfare and they are of the opinion that ferrets are not appropriate
house pets!  A friend from Germany phoned me last night and was so
distraught about it and faxed me a few German articles and letters that I
have to translate into English and send to Stephanie Baas.  I will also
write an e-mail.  If anybody wants to, could you please send an e-mail to
Stephanie before next Thursday?  She will present the government with all
e-mails she gets.  Her e-mail address is:

My friend also told me that ferrets are not considered as pets in Germany
and that Germany could be the next country that could face problems.  I
think we should stop all that non-sense before it gets out of hand.
