Hello!

Well, I don't post too much because I hate having to do it anon, but I have
to protect my furzables here in CACA land. Well, I've been feeling more and
more worried about my ferts having reactions to their shots. We have 4, and
none of them have ever had any reaction other than lethargy, but I've heard
that the more shots they receive throughout their lifetime, the greater the
chance becomes for a bad reaction.

3 of our ferts are getting their annual boosters tomorrow, and I'm hoping
it will be OK, but I especially worry about my oldest at 6 who just had
successful adrenal surgery in March. One vet said that realistically ferts
probably only need their kit boosters, and then 1 to 2 annual boosters after
that to protect them over their lifetime; and that the reasons for the
continuing annual boosters are more political due to the fear of rabies and
all that silly nonsense. I figure that my oldest has had 8 or so boosters
since kithood, and my others are around 3 so they've each had about 5 or so
boosters. According to the vet, this is already more than enough. So,
lately I've been debating between the choice of continuing the boosters and
risking bad reactions, or not continuing the boosters and risking the chance
(however unlikely) that someone would actually get scratched or bitten and
take the full course of action, potentially subjecting my fuzzies to a fatal
rabies test. Sigh........ I know I only have limited knowledge, and other
vets may have varying opinions about the reactions and protection, so I
wanted to see if there were any other thoughts on this?

As far as inconvenient poops, we've found that if we clean up the area,
then sprinkle a handful of food there, the ferts tend to leave it alone.
Sometimes they go outside the perimeter of where the food has been
sprinkled, and you have to replace the food sometimes because they eat it.
You also would probably want to clean it up when you have company over, but
that's a lot easier than cleaning the poopie up! Also, if you have light
carpet, you might want to check that the oil from the food doesn't stain
the carpet, then again the poopies do that too! We ended up buying our own
upright semi-steam cleaner, which works great!

Also, our neighbor gave us some left over vent duct, and it's clear just
like the ferret freeways except it's about twice the diameter. Well, the
fluffs absolutely went nuts because now they can go inside of it and have
room the jump on each other, etc. They still love their original ferret
freeway too, but this one is something NEW! Woo Hoo!

O.K. one cute story and then that's it! One of our ferrets, Silk, likes
to open my bottom drawer where I keep my workout clothes, and then fall
asleep there. Well, every so often my husband and I would find Silk in the
second drawer up where I keep my underwear. Yesterday, my husband found
Silk in my bottom drawer with the work out clothes, but he apparently had
also been in the second drawer up, because he had pulled some of my
underwear down into the bottom drawer. I guess he prefers sleeping in my
underwear, and he got tired of climbing up to the second drawer, so he just
pulled some underwear down with him! There he was looking up at us from
his snuggled in position thru my underwear, like "What now, I'm trying to
take a nap, do you mind?!" Sheesh, talk about a panty raid!!! :-)

P.S. I hope Trevor Ka-Boing! (with the explanation point) is doing well.
That's a great name, and I loved that post!!!! Of course, I hope everyone's
fuzzies are doing great, and my thoughts are with all of those that aren't
feeling so hot!
